yes, this is really good. many artists are getting discovered and getting into the top because many publications are supporting them. and this is the great thing about music business. sometimes negativities can not be prevented but it is still great to see that this publication is supporting this bands and artists.

Me too! It is very gratifying to see publications such as WSJ giving notice to the industry without it being in a negative manner. I think when you have someone who owns many outlets that caters to todays youth you are bound to share in as many of those publications and sites and so on. It is only good business, so why not.

I find it gratifying that a publication as prestigious as The Wall Street Journal is giving credence to a segment of the music industry that they had not mentioned up to now. Let's face it, Music is a business, and TWSJ is a business publication. People will read about the indie music biz, and perhaps become interested in investing in the field. Stanger things have been known to happen.

Ah. The stolid-looking business-oriented newspaper with one of the most static page designs isn't as fuddy-duddy as I thought if its editors are paying attention to the indie music scene.

Then again, Rupert Murdoch owns the WSJ now, and he also owns MySpace, Fox TV, Fx, Fox News Channel, and 20th Century Fox, not to mention TV Guide. He's a savvy person, so it's not surprising that he or his staffers would want to see what's hot in music, right?

I agree with lalajean. This is much better than the Billboard! It always makes me proud to see some Austinites ( bands from Austin) doing well, as I am a native Texan. The Austin scene is full of talented musicians. I hope more and more local Austin bands will be recognized. I can't wait for Spoon's bio.

Glad to see them coming into the real world of music and making an effort to be known. Always good to see that the Wall Street Journal is taking an interest in knowing what is going on in the music industry. Even better that they are hitting the Billboard top 10.
