Sherwood
Sherwood is not the only band out there who cites The Beach Boys as one of their top influences, but they are certainly one of the best. Their songs are catchy without being too pop-heavy and they seem to have a knack for creating melodies that are memorable. There’s a little Jimmy Eat World in there as well, especially with their second album, "A Different Light."
The "California" in their songs is unmistakable, especially with the Beach Boys as one of their primary influences. But they manage to take their influences and craft it into something completely unique. They also managed to turn their band name into a full fledged brand, complete with t-shirts and a recognizable image.
They formed in 2002 while attending Cal Poly State University. Now, band members Joe Greenetz on drums, Nate Henry with vocals and on bass guitar, Dan Koch on guitar and vocals, and Mike Leibovich on keyboard and percussion enjoy a strong fan base and a newly signed deal with Myspace Records.
Their albums include ‘Sing, But Keep Going’ and their newest release ‘A Different Light’. Sherwood’s music can also be found in the compilations ‘Kyle XY: The Soundtrack’ and ‘Punk Goes Acoustic 2′. You can check out their Myspace page for recent tour dates.
