Indie Artist OneRepublicOneRepublic is a perfect example of a band that has found success because of MySpace.com. MySpace Music offers a way for bands and musicians to post their music and gain exposure. This has been perfect for Indie bands such as OneRepublic, especially the ones that are ranked pretty high on the site.

This band, originally formed in Colorado but has since relocated to Los Angeles, CA, was started by Ryan Tedder who is a writer and producer and does the lead vocals and also plays the guitar and piano. Other band members include Zach Filkins on guitar, Eddie Fisher on drums, Brent Kutzl on Bass and Cello, and Drew Brown on guitar. They are classified as "American Pop-Rock" and are also considered an Indie band.

They’re a relatively new band. They formed in 2003 and have yet to release their debut CD OneRepublic. For now, you can visit their MySpace page and learn about the band and hear some clips. They’ve made several appearances including Bones, The Late Show With David Letterman, and So You Think You Can Dance where they performed their single "Apologize". That single was also featured on Timbaland’s latest album. On Bones their single "Too Easy" was featured.

…Wow. Apologize is one of those songs that I just have to stop and listen to whenever I hear it. I didn’t even know these guys were an indie band. Their songs sound so professional. Not saying that other indie bands aren’t as good or anything, but One Republic is very different, and you can definitely tell when you hear them.

Now here’s an Indie band most people know by now. ‘Apologize’ is good but I first noticed these guys with their song ‘Stop and Stare.’ I didn’t realize either that they were under an Indie label. I have their current ‘Dreaming Out Loud’ album and looking forward to their next one.

It seems people never think that when they hear music that is on mainstream commercial radios that they are and Indie band, and I admit that surprises just a little, although I know it happens, but I figured these guys were with a major label the way the radios play “Apologize” with so much rotation that it has gotten to one of the most annoying songs ever.

Either way though, definitely not a bad band. I don’t know if I would be too interested in becoming a life long fan of these guys just based on what I have heard, but they are for sure going in the right direction marketing wise.

It is a fantastic band, the songs, the music and the lyrics are quite catchy and worth listening. These people have that caliber and have struck the right cords. They are going to do very well with their music career.Their songs, most of them, are pretty audible and melodious.

I first heard their song “stop and stare” and liked it, and then the song “apologize” came out. I loved it, there and then, I bought an album called “dreaming out loud” and heard every music in it. I also loved their song “Say (all i need)”. Lyrics also is a 2 thumbs up to these guys. By the way, I never knew that this band was an indie, thanks for the info.
