Sarah.jpgSo, how does a girl sing and sound so much like Sheryl Crowe?

It has to be coincidence with Sarah Hethcoat. Probably nothing more. "Everybody Wants" is a good beginning pop tune, certainly not a heavyweight contribution to modern music, but this girl will probably move on to become a major entertainer (with the right help). "Love Me Then" takes the Crowe comparison off track a bit, especially when the music slides to that minor chord. A smooth song.

The listener gets a taste of the real musical talent of Sarah with "Love Trap." (First time listener comment: This is the song I would choose if I were Sarah or one of her confidants.) Choose for what? Pick this one to show to the musical world. A bit different and quite enjoyable. "Gone" provides a brief look at the Sarah Hethcoat keyboard ability. First indications are that Sarah is an accomplished pianist, which certainly doesn’t get in the way when it is time to write songs. Adding voice training for professional-level musical theater doesn’t hurt either.

Get a taste of Sarah at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, or in Los Angeles (late April, early May). She will even put you on the guest list for her birthday if you email with sincere intention.

I didn’t too much enjoy “Love Trap”. Yes, it’s a catchy tune, but it’s also something that will come and go and not really remembered (at least by me). I like “Gone” though. The keyboard makes up the best part of the song, but the lyrics are not half bad either. “Unexpected” has some decent acoustics, but again, just such a run of the mill song. I expect that she will have a good following of fans, as this is just what sells these days though.

Yes, she really does sound a lot like Cheryl Crow. I thought some of the music was ok. But not being a fan of that type of voice is really what did her in for me. I think there are many people that will like the style and vocals. I did think that the songs were well written and easy to listen to though.

The first thing that I have notice about her is her face. I think that this is one of the best things about her because most people like to look at a pretty face. I don’t think that her voice is what would make her famous because I have come to know that there are lots of people with a good voice. You are right about one thing when you said that she will make it to the top someday because she has the combination of a good voice and a nice face.

All right. I agree; she’s pretty. And I will admit that I noticed her photo on Indie Update (and her MySpace profile).

That having been said, I liked her “Tease Me” even though it’s a bit more rock-ier than I tend to like, and I love “Everybody Wants,” if for nothing else than for its infectious backbeat and its catchy chorus.

Yes, she definitely has a cute face, but because of her looks she will have to go the extra mile just to prove she is not just another pretty face. Do you guys really think she has that extra “it” factor? I’m just not seeing it personally.

If she were to focus on her writing and performing skills, I don’t see why she couldn’t develop that “it” factor. Sometimes it takes a while for an attractive female singer to develop more than just a “oh, she’s a hottie” following. It’s just a matter of artistic and personal growth, plus a good and serious work ethic.

So having a pretty face is a plus. I personally would not want to be known or listened to simply because I have a pretty face or a nice body. Although sex sells we need to start looking at people for personality and ability to do what they set out to do. Not for looks!! Even if they can help.

Her voice is very Sheryl Crow like, but I think that might be her downfall. I just don’t hear any uniqueness in her voice that makes her stand out, and be different.

Her looks have been mentioned also. I agree that she is pretty. But she has to be more than just a pretty face, or else she will just fade into the background one day as just another pretty face.

I think that if she could find that uniqueness, combined with her looks then she has a chance of sticking in people’s minds more.
