She does sound a little too much like Karly Simon now that I think about it, and I have to agree that her voice isn't the type to listen to over long periods of time. Once in a while though, a dose of Anya Marina wouldn't be too bad. I don't mind any of her songs, but the breathing vocals can eventually get on one's nerves. I'm assuming it was also probably MTV. Another example of an artist trying to fake a unique sound in my opinion. Its so easy to tell when someone just really sounds a certain way and when they are trying to sound that way. I've heard a bit about her and everyone seems to like her. I just don't get it. She was not and is not capable of doing anything other than what she has done in the past. Unfortunately she probably believes that she can get it back when in fact she can't. The difference here is that this girl can play the music. And being able to play and write without top writers is a very key ingredient to staying around. The fact that she was once a promising young singer couldn't be just attributed to her looks, right? Unfortunately, she has slid down a murky path to musical oblivion...maybe if she works on her acting instead, she might make something of herself.
