The Transit War
Indie-rock band, The Transit War, provided a particular variety of alternative music, assuring fans that the group was not dead, just resting. Well, in 2008, that might not be completely true. “Radar” from Miss Your Face (2006 Orange Peal) is still just good rock and roll, complex enough to satisfy the discerning fan and raucous enough to keep the bangers happy.
“Loud” from the same collection is, again, musically interesting. The dynamics and slight rhythm changes make this more than straight-ahead rock. Now, “Kerosene” is from iAh Discordia!.That is something to be noticed, since the fellows in The Transit War wrote some good songs early in that year. I have a question, though. On a personal note, “What have you guys done for us lately?”
Of course, part of the answer goes back to 2007, when the group announced that original member Jim Hughes was leaving the band. According to www.pluginmusic.com, that’s the way it went down more than a year ago. On www.absolutepunk.net readers will learn that Mike Frey is releasing a solo album. Apparently this CD is set to come out in the fall of 2008 on Orange Peal. The name of the effort has something to do with the name “…students.”

I’m more of the straight-up rock kind of music fan but these guys will fit right in with today’s music. I can’t really place their sound on a specific genre what with all the genres around but they sound more punk rock with a sort of emo. My overall impression, good solid sound but nothing really new that stands out.
I like them. They are really energetic and they have some kind of originality which is very hard today.Alternative rock indie music is just a label they are marked with but it is the message and state of mind they create for us more important than just a “stamp” and a cathegory they have to fit in.You really have to listen to it and make your own impression of them.
I think something new stands out , i can’t really name it but i think the energy and some other things. But that is only my impression.
They do have a lot of energy. I think that’s what makes you remember them. The vocals are okay. Nothing that sets them apart from anyone else though. If they could get the vocals to match the energy, I’d become a fan.
yeah, i think that this band has an originality and uniqueness which other bands does not have. it makes a lot of effort to survive in the music industry. and knowing the people’s passion in music is one way of determining whether you will be a big hit to the listeners or not.
yeah, i agree Leeuh. they are very energetic and that makes them a good band. it is a positive attitude but it is not the only thing that a good band should possess. having great vocals and sound, and appeal to the people are also some ways to have a successful career in the music industry.
