Chris Blake
Judging from the words being thrown around about this singer, he is gaining fans right and left. He’s appeared on a couple of top radio shows and has been heating up the blogosphere. One comment tossed his way at the L.A. Music Awards was that “Wave” (Cumulonimbus 2008) was very, very good.
He’s pop and alternative, while being somewhat rock, socially conscious rock, that is. “Phantom Love” from this collection is a well-crafted song and is performed admirably by Blake, Dave Chamberlin and Heather Senner (vocals). It’s billed as an “anthem for the dispossessed,” which it is, I guess.
If you want a bit of hip-hop, as in Nelly-style, “Party on the Last Iceberg” will fill the bill. The chorus becomes a bit more melodic than the St. Louis native puts out, especially now. Blake is certainly no rapper, but he does justice to the little bit of hip music on the CD.
His songwriting has found openings in some film/TV outlets and with the University of Southern California. A lot of folks in the southern half of the Golden State have seen Blake at the top clubs.
For true, 21st rock, new listeners might want to go with “How Journey Saved My Life” or maybe “Blow Away.” The latter tune could be an ear-catcher, so to speak.

i think that Chris Blake is a great artist. with his music, he is surely one of the popular artists. and even if he has been judged by so many people, it still made him become more popular. maybe because he really is a good artist.
Most of his songs are sounding a bit old fashioned for me but I guess I should have expected that from an artist singing about the band Journey. I prefer him going for those slow acoustic ballads.
I wonder what he thinks about Steve Perry getting replaced by Arnel Pineda. :p
i think that phantom love song is actually pretty hot! definitely derivative but so are a lot of great bands. his songs seem genuine and you can’t say that about a lot of artists.
yeah, it is a bit of old fashioned. but i really think that people are into his music. we can not deny that now a days, some people prefer to listen to this kind of music. but we all have different wants and interest when it comes to music.=)
I have heard most of the songs by Chris Blake. He has done an excellent job,he has clubbed nice lyrics with good music. He is surely going to strike well with the listeners. His song Blow Away is a cool number and really liked it.
Wow to Chris Blake’s “ Someone Else”. You can seem to feel the pain. His voice and music can touch emotions. I like the way he started his song with “Goodbye”. It caught my attention and made me feel the pain of leaving right there and then. This is a good song anytime and anywhere.
