Dada Veda

With a beautiful and poetic name such as Dada Veda and the genuine appearance of a man who has found something very special, listeners might expect a type of music that is for a select audience.

But Dada Veda, now living and working in Albania, is a folk artist and a singer, along with being an “orange-robed meditation-yoga teacher and a social worker.” This performer’s roots are in New York City, where his early musical influences were Chuck Berry, Bill Haley, the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly and other classic rock-and-roll legends.

He was an excellent student in college and began learning guitar at that time. A hitchhiking trip to California led to a meeting with an Indian monk. This was the beginning of a long journey for Dada Veda that led through the Ananda Marga yoga society. Part of his training was in devotional songs called “bhajans” and in mantra chanting. He eventually became a full-time yoga monk.

He has traveled the world, singing and writing. His CD Brighter Than The Sun from 2003 first showed that “The songs are acoustic-based folk music whose lyrics weave together spiritual, ecological and social justice themes. There is also a touch of country in the songs, and one listener dubbed the blend ‘Country and Eastern Music.’” Try out “It’s The System” for a good example.

Band members include Dada Veda – vocals, guitar; Redi Dashi – guitar solos, bass; Vasudeva – backing vocals; Andi Haxihvseni – drums.

The journey of Dada Veda is quite interesting and had been quite enlightening for him.All this is visible in his looks and his work too.His music I have liked to a certain extent because I am fond of laid back music and guitar is another thing that I appreciate here. But the lyrics seem to be a bit preachy, may be not liked by most of the youngsters.

Wow! All this time I thought DADA’s only teach meditation and help out lost souls, but now here comes one DADA that sings country music? That’s really something new. He’s journey was not really that easy, for you to become a DADA you must be able to open your sixth chakra which they also call the third eye. I learned these things from a DADA who also taught me how to meditate. DADA Veda’s country songs are terrific and I’m sure country lovers will love it.

I’m impressed on how he manage to mixed his music with his journey and teachings. He has a very strong determination. His love in music is absolutely perfect. Yeah, I know some youngsters today don’t want to listen to the kind of music he has but only they try. I never heard what DADA means, but now I know. Thanks.

Yeah the kind of music he has formed is really commendable. It is rare combination, but he has worked on it and his experience has helped him to put forward some mature music. His song…The System, Rainbow of Humanity and Brighter than the Sun are few examples of his fine music.
