I ran across Alex's music a few weeks ago on ourstage.com and I was totally blown away. She is vocally mature far beyond her years and has the ability to draw one into her songs and create a world in which to live in for a few minutes at a time. Unlike some of her young female counterparts, Alex knows the value of a single, powerful note. It is quite evident she has the ability to perform terrific runs, but she uses them sparingly and with great finesse. She is my absolute favorite bluesy soul female vocalist in decades. This album is unbelievable. A serious throw-back to true, organic soul music. I don't know how Alex is not a household name yet. I saw her at RedFish Lounge in Simi Valley and I was absolutely floored by her musicianship, artistry, voice... and not to mention... she's not bad on the eyes either. She's the complete package.
