Amanda Sky
My goal is to encourage the people of the world no matter what background or religion they are. I have sung for over 100,000 people, but even if my message only reaches the heart of one person I will feel like I have accomplished my goal.” An admirable goal, indeed, though a huge one as well. With some of the work she has on the cdbaby.com site, she clarifies two things – this is indeed new age and she has a mature voice that belies her age (21?) Sky gets her inspiration from playing bass and writing, according to her Web presence.
This listener shares a couple of favorites with Amanda Sky: the movie Happy Gilmore, probably the only Adam Sandler movie I like; and horror movies that really scare me. Beyond that, I guess I’d have to vote for the book, Siddharta, as well. Some of Sky’s influences and likes are alien to one of my generation, but she seems to truly represent her own generation. She is obviously searching, and at the same time hoping, that she will be able to help and contribute at the same time. They are not the same- to help is not to contribute. The reverse is true as well. Hope she figures it out.
