From the start, let’s get one thing straight, I like both parts of this – the band name, “Fingers Crossed” and the CD name Hopscotch. Take a minute or two and listen to “Welcome to the 00s” from the collection. These players are from Greece. I have to admit, that’s a first for this reviewer. But I am happy that I stumbled across the group, at the suggestion of the folks behind the Web site. Fingers Crossed includes Dimitris Geronikolas (vocals), Yannos Paramithiotis (guitars, vocals), Serapheim Giannakopoulos (drums), Byron Theodotopoulos (bass) Minas Liakos (guitars) Michael Sotiropoulos (drums 2002 – 2006).
Some have questioned if this is an underground record. But the information from the group states this is “a pop- mainstream album, which overrides the record companies, who are currently more puzzled than a teenager, because they don’t have anything to offer right now, and is the product of a band that believes in the change of means. And by change of means we do not mean the change from the CD to the mp3, like from vinyl to CD, but the general change of the music environment.” Try out “LA” or “Veronique” from the new CD. Fingers Crossed has been a hard-working group in Greece for some time now and will probably be heard more as time goes on.
