Fardreamer,

It's a shame that artists, especially when it comes to major labels, are judged on their looks just as much as their talent. Then of course there are many many artists (if you can call them that) that get a record deal based SOLELY on looks. I won't mention any names, but all you have to do is open up a recent National Enquirer and you will probably see of these so called "artists" right there on the front page.

I think she'd be talented if she looked like Phyllis Diller and we had to only go by her voice on the radio and on CDs/mp3s. That's the way singers used to be evaluated before the advent of MTV, music videos, and the whole "Britney/Christina/Rhianna" girl-singers-must-be-also-physically-attractive deal. And sometimes I just wish we could just abolish videos and all the stuff that has altered the musical world so that now the audience's focus isn't on people's talent but also on their looks.

Take, for instance, Janis Joplin. Legend in the 1960s and dead before her career really peaked, and a good singer. But was she a cutie-patootie? Heck no. She wasn't, as a Marine friend of mine used to say MoFugly, but in today's world, she'd have been lucky to get on the radio a few times but no MTV video or anything like that.

I'll admit when I saw her pic, the first thing I thought was "Ugh, another Tila Tequila" (is that how you spell it? I don't really pay too much attention). Anyways, another Tequila she definitely is not. This girl is a true rocker with some amazing lungs that come blow out some notes. Her band is nothing to laugh at either. She's probably not someone that I would listen to daily or even become a fan of, as this really isn't my thing, but she IS talented, and shouldn't be judged on looks alone.

An interesting bit of trivia is that not only is Cori an accomplished singer/songwriter from my home state of Florida, but she's also a talented and - of course - hot-looking actress. I think she was on a barely-watched show on the old UPN network, and she's also been on Sabado Gigante (in the '90s) and on Sky Sports' "Soccer AM" as a gorgeous "soccerette."
