Jason Silver

Jason SilverPiano talent plus great influences sometimes leads to excellent music. For the growing Jason Silver fan base, the question has been answered. This is good stuff.

Silver lists such classic musicians as Blood, Sweat and Tears, Harry Chapin and Tom T. Hall among his influences (because of his parents music tastes). Building on that, he adds Billy Joel, Simon & Garfunkel, The Eagles and Chicago to the list, along with some select tunes that have a strong keyboard presence.

His professional-music life goes back 15 years, during which time he has focused on keyboards, with additional skills on guitar, bass and drums. His compositions have been used by symphony orchestras and Broadway performers.

Variously categorized as “adult contemporary” and “romantic piano rock,” Silver is based in Kingston, Ontario. The Canadian singer/songwriter offers such softly played ballads as “Sunny Days,” that feature clear vocals and single-note piano in support of the melody. “Until the Train Comes” is a waiting-for-love tune that shows Silver’s whispering vocals and some piano work that reminds the listener of Bruce Hornsby’s best work.

The least-played tune on this fellow’s MySpace page is “It’s Over Now.” This is a bit curious, since it shows sadness and a reaching-out that Silver obviously understands. Listeners may catch on to this young-love-now-gone song in the future.

He’ll sell some CDs!
