Scary Kids Scaring Kids
Getting past the interesting name of this hard-driving band is not easy. In fact, some who read the name on a play list or cd cover may begin imagining just how scary these kids are. Without knowing a lot about their personal lives, it would be hard to say if they are frightening as individuals or not. But if band members are to be believed, the hard-edged sound and unique name don’t accurately portray the group’s motives. In fact, former drummer Peter Costa once stated that the members of the band try not to take themselves too seriously.
SKSK relies on buzz and Web communication among fans as much as any alternative/indie band around. They have built a small but loyal following among those who appreciate the angst and anger put forth in such songs as “The Only Medicine” from The City Sleeps In Flames. This tunefeatures nice guitar work and crisp drums, along with the popular combination of clean vocals and scream/growl method.
Tyson Stevens provides the majority of the vocals, with support from Chad Crawford. DJ Wilson carries guitar work, along with Steve Kirby. The guitars and vocals are supported by James Ethridge on drums and Pouyan Afkary on keyboards.

Think Chad and Tyson should exchange places. I think personally they are snapping the wrong lead singer. Which i find that to be a huge problem these days when it comes to bands and or groups.
No way! are you serious? There is not way you could be serious whatso ever. I think they are in the right position. The way Tyson should stay right where he is at. Chad’s style is too abstract for him to become the soloist.
I agree with that.
I bet you any money that the next time they do anthing big, someone will be on a solo mission.
The article above was made on the Release date of the latest self-titled CD, but, has a quote from Peter Costa – Funny sacback should mention a solo mission – Peter Costa took off almost 2 years ago to on his mission – Well, not the kind of mission you would think – he became Mormon and took off to South America – I’m wondering how the writer of this article got the quote from him –
– The drummer in the picture is James Ethridge.
Anyway, these guys TOTALLY rock – I never miss their show when they are in town – Their shows are what Rock and Roll SHOULD be all about – I just read a 5-page feature spread on them in AP Magazine.
Good catch RockOn and edited to read “former drummer” and “once stated”. Thanks for reading and for the comment.
InBlaze – One more edit – The last sentence should read supported by James Ethridge (not sure about the spelling) on drums and Pouyan Afkary on keyboards –
Their self-titled release “Scary Kids Scaring Kids” debuted on Billboard at #10 in Hard Rock a couple of weeks ago -
RockOn – I made that edit yesterday, Thanks again for the catch.
Ive heard that scary kids scaring kids is a really awesome band yet I’ve still never heard them I think I shall go look them up while I’m on youtube later they might be a good listen.
It seems like I’m hearing something about this band everywhere I go, though I haven’t really sat down and tried to listen to them. One thing I noticed about them is that they have a lead singer and then a supporting singer. Has anybody been to a show? What does the supporting singer do when he’s not singing? It seems weird to me that there is a supporting singer.
sksk is the best band in the world. hands down. i listen to their newest album like every day. and the supporting singer makes the band all the more badass
Chad also plays guitar.
must have had a crush on a few girls at once….solution?…..become a mormon.
I think on the bottom you need to acknowlege Chad Crawford as guitarist, and back up vocals, people seem to think that he doesn’t do anything but back up vocals. DJ Wilson was the bassist for the band, and is currently no longer part of the band.
i love this band with every fiber of my being
