She released her first CD in 2005, “Unfolding.” Drew Tichnell is one that is making a large mark in the Indie industry with her growing fame as a female guitarist and song writer in the Indie industry. Her hit into the music industry in this short amount of time includes a vote into #1 female vocalist in Rock by Garageband.com. Drew comes from Austin, Texas, and currently resides in the same area. She began writing music and playing guitar at the age of 12 and quickly began to fit into the music scene with teaching herself to play piano and trumpet and baritone. By the age of 18, she had decided to commit herself to the music scene with her first band. Drew expects to continue to rise as a rock musician, with an upcoming tour in 2007. She comes off to be alittle to spunky looking. A bit too soft for my taste.
Oh, I don’t know. She taught herself how to play several instruments, was named No. 1 Female Vocalist in Rock by an influential website, and looks mighty pretty…. Spunky-looking she might be, for sure (and there’s nothing wrong with that), but Drew Tichnell is an Austin Cutie with more than just good Texas-bred looks…she’s very talented as well.
Ah, another local Austin talent ! Is it me or doesn’t she sound a bit country ? I think she sounds decent, but nothing I normally listen to. There is something about her voice that I don’t dig, but I love the drums. Also, some of the instrumentals are great. I guess she could be great for people who enjoy a rock/country guitar playing female with a “typical” voice.
