Why in the world they named themselves Slightly Stupid is beyond me since these guys are amazing. So I looked up the scoop on them and this is what I found:

Where did you guys come up with the name Slightly Stoopid?

The name is an old one. Picture the three founding members of the band tossing names around. The guys were just goofing around and that’s the name that stuck.”

This information came from their interview with The Orion.

Anyways, all I can say is wow wow and wow. I don’t know to classify Slighty Stoopid either, but I agree that not only is the guitar work brilliant, but it seems everything they touch is brilliant.

I almost had a chance to see Slightly Stoopid in concert on Halloween this year, however was unfortunately unable. I was extremely disappointed to miss them after all of the wonderful things I heard about the band and their music. Though I missed them live, I have however listened to what they have to offer. Slightly Stoopid, who should have named themselves Slightly Amazing, brings their instruments to a colorful interpretation of music that displays with a glorious rainbow of sounds. I would have to say I am even more disappointed I missed them now that I am such a fan, however I am sure Slightly Stoopid will be around a while and I will not missed them next time.

By the look of things the only thing that is stupid here is the name “STOOPID”. The tracks are really a treat for any music lover. McDonald and Doughty has done a good job in compiling the guitar work for tracks.

I’m confused by the post as well but this might answer in in either case. Straight from their press kit:

“That trip began in 1995, when Doughty and McDonald (childhood friends who grew up in Ocean Beach, CA) caught the ear of late, beloved Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell, who signed them to his Skunk Records label, which issued the band’s first two discs: 1996′s punk-tinged Slightly Stoopid (featuring a guest vocal by Nowell himself) and 1998′s surf-inspired The Longest Barrel Ride.”
