Well, I guess you would sound cute and pop-like if you have cartoon characters in your graphics. Secret Secret Dino Club sounds are pop, hip-hop and very, very cute. “Upside Down (Spin Me All Around)” is a good place to start for those who haven’t experienced this Saratoga Springs, New York musical effort. The musical conversation between boy and girl sets the theme for extended listening to SSDC.
Fast forward to “Look At Me Now.” Still cute, still love-song-for-the-young music. But with all of this, Secret Secret Dino Club is no childish musical effort. The recording work and song construction are top-quality. Jayce Levi Kalinkewicz is Doin’ My Own Thing, and Doin’ It Sooo Well and it’s crystal clear. Apparently, Kalinkewciz takes most of his lyrics from a private journal, which can be a good source for song lyrics if they are treated properly.
He’s around the upstate New York area at the time, though SSDC has been all over the place in the past few years. Someone is picking up on this interesting effort, since most of the MySpace selections have gathered thousands of listens. Newcomers won’t find unexpected rhythms with Secret Secret Dino Club, but the lyrics and melody lines provide a unique flavor.
